Clinical Medical Assistants assist in varied roles in physician’s offices, both clinically and administratively. They work closely with patients and physicians; assist with physical examinations and procedures, take vital signs, and record patient information. Our Clinical Medical Assistant course describes components of electronic medical records, types of patient record keeping, office procedures and HIPAA regulations. It also covers how to assist with taking vital signs, performing wound care and laboratory procedures.
After completing this course, you should be able to:
- Recall the fundamentals of patient medical records and health history reports
- Describe the proper guidelines for obtaining vital signs and physical assessments
- Recognize methods of intravenous therapy and administration of medication
- Identify standard OSHA guidelines for sterilization and disinfection
- Recognize elements of clinical laboratory tests and imaging
Prerequisite: Solid knowledge of Medical Terminology and Anatomy & Physiology.
